On Wednesday, August 27, 1919, Stephen is elected First Vice President of the Survivors of the 109th Regiment, New York. Previously, he served as President of the organization. The meeting was held in Ideal Park, Binghamton on the fifty-seventh anniversary of the regiment’s formation.
Ideal Park opened about 1894 as a private park by the owners of the Binghamton Railway Co. Also known as Casino Park and En-joie Park, it was purchased by Endicott-Johnson for use by the public. Through the years it was open, it had a racetrack, sports facilities and a recreation building with a roller skating rink. The park was closed and sold in 1968.
Stephen was 78 years old.
