There are eleven Peleg (Pail-eg) Tripps in my family tree. Possibly there is a duplicate. Research will straighten it out. Even so, the Tripps must have liked the name enough to pass it on for
too many generations.
Gideon Tripp and Susannah Harden married about 1812 most likely in Schoharie, New York, but that location is not confirmed. They had eleven children, of whom one, Daniel is my 3 great-grandfather, the talented musician, and watchmaker who rode a Penny-farthing well into his early 80s.
Peleg, his older brother by 12 years, was born in 1811. Another mystery. Is the marriage year wrong? Did Peleg have a different mother? Was he born to Gideon and Susannah prior to marriage?
About 1835 Mary Sealy and Peleg are married. They have nine children. He is listed as a laborer in his 50s in an area that is mostly farmland.
For me, he is the last of the Peleg’s in the Tripp family.
