Although I wrote about this little village in a previous post. Y, Somme, Picardie, France fits perfectly for today.
Y is a tiny commune in northern France, an odd place for our English ancestors to reside at the time of their death. It seems researchers on ancestry.com type in a “Y” on a search, whether on purpose or intending “U”, a drop down appears with “Y, Somme, Picardie, France”, and it is chosen by mistake. The error spreads exponentially throughout family trees, including my own ancestors, as their final resting place. As one blogger observed, those poor people in Y, Somme, Picardie, France who must be confronted with confused genealogy tourists.
