Claude now attends Binghamton Central High School and passes the NYS Regents’ Exam for second year English. Fun note: In the list of students who are successful in this class, he is appropriately C. Claude. His sister Harriet Barber is just below him in the alphabetical column.
Plane geometry is his second successful Regents’ noted on July 2, 1919. Here he is just “Claude”, the name he is known by for his entire life. The English teacher apparently was okay dropping the “Chauncey”, but most properly included the initial “C” when reporting her list of students that passed.
